How can a nationally…nay, an Internationally known company, be this bad at customer service? Yes, I’m referring to the Burger King, again. In November, I had a similar incident and vowed secretly to never go back. But like any toxic, co-dependent relationship, we forget about these promises.
It’s the last day of my sons’ winter break so I took the day off. I told them they could pick out any restaurant on a main street nearby and I would pick up the food, we would then go back home and I would allow them to design sweatshirts with my cricut.
My 13-year-old wanted Chipotle which was fine because I love Chipotle. The 10-year-old however, I dreaded his request which was none other than the Burger King.
The mutha’ fuckin’ Burger King again!
As I pulled into the parking lot, it was clear the 4 cars in the drive-thru weren’t going anywhere so I decided to go in. I got out, pulled the door and the door wouldn’t open (this is at 12:30 btw). I try the other door. THEY HAD LOCKED THE DOORS! This hasn’t been the first time. It’s the only internationally known chain that I’ve ever seen this happen. When they are short-staffed, they just simply lock the doors or claim the drive-thru is broken. As I told my sons, if that would happen anywhere else, heads would roll. It’s unfathomable to think of closing your doors because you are short-staffed. People would be fired. Having worked both retail and the food industry, you’ll get your 4th and 5th cousin in to work before you close the doors.
That’s when I had an idea. I decided to look on Yelp and Google reviews to see if others had experienced the same thing and I was not disappointed. I instantly knew this had to be a blog post and here are my favorites! Enjoy!

Side note: while typing out this post I became more and more pissed that this is an ongoing issue. I decided to call their corporate and my complaint was filed by a customer service rep who clearly had bigger fish to fry.
“They had no burgers. At Burger King.” Man that made me laugh, hahaha.
I know, right! All of these reviews and still nothing is done. WTF?
Probably because they know people will still keep eating there!
I just sent my link to the local news channel to investigate since clearly there is a huge issue.
OMG. Keep us posted on that!
I think calling the police sounds like a great idea. The door is locked, they’re being held hostage, call the news media, helicopters, focus the whole country – you still won’t get a burger, but it would be fun.
That would be pretty funny. And honestly I did think about calling one of those news casters who investigate crappy businesses.
Next time their dinning area is open, go to McDonalds and bring your food back over and eat it there just to see how they’d react.
This comment is so funny I had to read it out loud to my husband and son. We are totally going to do this. OMG! This might even be a blog post.
Yay! ?
Does the shake machine have, like, a club on it? How do you lock a damn shake machine?!?
I know! I was thinking a time delayed lock or something?!?!
For obscure reasons, I can actually answer this. Apologies in advance, because you’re going to wish you didn’t have this information.
What’s happened there is the same thing that happens when some places say the shake machine is “down.” Those machines require employees to complete a nightly cleaning cycle as well as regular (weekly/monthly) deeper cleanings. If those are not done, the machine will go into a lockdown until the proper cleaning is done. So now you know when you hear “I’m locked out of the shake machine” or “our shake machine is down” what they actually mean is, “we don’t clean our equipment and don’t even know that’s a thing.”
Note that the deep fryer, grill, bun warmer, and other food equipment has no such safeguard; there is no guarantee that was ever cleaned.
I don’t know whether to say thank you or cry! OMG! I had no idea! OMG!!! That is sooo bad. And you know as well as I do that those ass holes aren’t cleaning things like they should. Hell, they can’t even consistently keep the place open, let alone clean it, I’m sure.
perhaps you should just stop polluting your system with that garbage.
It was a treat for my son.
eh…still better choices out there is all I’m saying.
Omg…I couldn’t agree more. 10-year-olds have to live and learn sometimes.
We have the EXACT same issues in pickerington Ohio. I mean, to a freaking T!!
Hi Travis! That’s the one I’m talking about! It’s horrible!! I even wrote another post earlier called Dear Mr. Burger King!
