Let me say I am HUGE, HUGE fan of 50 Shades of Grey- all 3 books. Because of my long commute I have audible.com which I love so I can listen to books while I drive. Thanks to my ADD, getting through any book on my own is a challenge, reading the same page over and over again, not comprehending. Thanks to audible, it allows me to listen to books and somehow I am more focused.
When I first started listening, I wasn’t a huge fan because of the actress reading the book. It didn’t resonate with me for some reason and I almost returned it, but I kept plugging along. Having read zero romance books, this was a new genre for me. But because of all the hype, I was intrigued and curious. After about 45 minutes into the book, I was hooked.
Suddenly I’m listening to 50 Shades of Grey on flights, while grocery shopping, I think I even brought my phone into the bathroom and would listen while shitting. Once I was on the interstate where the speed limit was 65 and the book had hit a very dramatic, sexual place, which caused me to slow my car- by a lot. After an unknown amount of minutes went by, I suddenly realized that cars were going around me at double the speed. I look passed the goosebumps on my arms to discover I was going a swift 35 mph in a 65 mph. Later that night, I got drunk and decided it would be a good idea to tell the author about this and she actually wrote me back!
I think the book is so popular because we get to live vicariously through Anna, the main character. She has bagged an almost perfect man. I mean, look at his credentials:
Hot as hell
Owns his own business
Is a billionaire (student loans could totally be paid off!)
Has a housekeeper, assistant and driver (I’d never have to cook or do laundry again! Praise Jesus!)
Buys her shit, but the right shit…ALL THE TIME
So, we are just a day from the premiere and I eagerly anticipate the viewing of this movie. So how about you? Are you as excited as I am? If you haven’t read the books, I implore you to try audible.com for 30 days and let this be your first book. You can thank me later. It’s a whole other ballgame when someone is reading it to you, trust me.
Laters baby…….
Did you enjoy the movie?
Ok, I’ll be honest, I’m not a big fan of Dakota and Jamie could have been taller but you make do with Hollywood’s version of a story.
LMAO. Books were better.
Couldn’t agree more! Right? I was listening to them again just now at work, praying something wouldn’t go wrong with my ear buds and the book is heard by all. Gulp!!
