I shouldn’t have to write posts like this, truly. I live in an insanely safe area. So safe, we don’t lock our doors (shhh, don’t tell anyone) so if you need to stop in and use the potty, by all means…..
This is the 2nd time in less than a year that family members have been on lock down thanks to an active shooter/killer. Last year, it was:Ohio State University Attacker. My sister, cousin and sister-in-law were barricading doors and hiding under desks. Today, both sons were on lock down at school because an armed man entered the nearby retirement home. When it was all said and done, 2 center employees were dead, the police officer who responded to the 911 call and the gun man. He turned the gun on himself. Did I mention the police officer had 6 children with one on the way?
This is how close we are:
Kirkersville Elementary is just a 2 minute walk from the Pine Kirk Care Center. I don’t know what lock down Kirkersville was on but the teachers have practiced it a million times and it was carried out flawlessly.
Then I realized my cousin patrols that area and began to freak. It turns out he was there but after all the shootings. He actually did the lock down of the school.
So yeah, violence can happen ANYWHERE. Next time I roll my eyes about how anal-retentive people are about safety, I need to remember times like this. This town has a population of 514. Psychos are everywhere.
Here is the report: Kikersville Shooter
P.S. I just came across a Go Fund Me Page for Officer Steven Disario’s widow and 7 children he leaves behind. If you have a few bucks to give, I suggest you skip the latte and donate. Tough times are ahead of this poor family: GO FUND ME-STEVEN DISARIO
What is wrong with our world? Seriously. Also, is it just me or do we not care to share these stories anymore, because we are so desensitized? I haven’t seen one mention about this or the last mass shooting. So scary.
Fox news reported it but I haven’t seen it yet on CNN. NBC has reported it and of coarse all the local news casters. My husband said there were helicopters everywhere. It’s so scary to get the Superintendent’s pre-recorded message about this stuff.
I can’t even imagine how scary that was!!
So happy the kids are safe.
I’m sure! I’m happy for you!
This is horrible! I hate evil people.
They just released his name- Tom Heartless. Pretty fitting. A 43 yr old man. His girlfriend worked at the senior center.
What a monster!
Wow! Praying for the families. This is horrible.
Thank you! I am praying for them too.
This is so sad! I am glad that you and your family are ok, but crushed for the families of those who lost loved ones.
Between 2 of the victims they leave behind 12 children!
So horrible
Sorry you had to go through such an awful thing. Makes us all aware of how vulnerable we are to these maniacs that walk our streets. Umm, lock your doors. Seriously.
This is so truly terrifying. So much respect for that police officer.
Life changes so very quickly. I have family in law enforcement and this is terrifying.
Oh I’m sure. I was worried for my cousin.
