I am beyond pissed that yet again, soccer games have been scheduled on Mother’s day. I told my husband I was writing an email to this organization that schedules it. It’s been extremely difficult to keep the snark at a minimum and avoid the use of curse words. What do you guys think? I’ll let you know if they respond back.

I want to offer congratulations for scheduling yet another fun-filled weekend of soccer on Mother’s Day weekend. As a mother of 2 boys, I accepted there are 2 days a year I can sleep-in without guilt. On these 2 days, you can find my husband guarding our bedroom door from our children with the resolve of secret service, allowing me to sleep till my heart’s content.
The first year you scheduled a soccer game on Mother’s day, I thought it was just an anomaly. As we sat there at 8 a.m. in the pouring rain, I closed my eyes and imagined my warm bed and what it must feel like to be in it right now. I shivered and just chalked it up to this must have been the only day we could play this team. But games continued to be scheduled not just on Mother’s Day but at the crack of dawn…..90 miles away.
Yesterday, my husband and I went to a very nice restaurant. As we waited for the hostess, I looked down to find a Mother’s Day brunch menu and thought that would be a nice thing to go to on Mother’s day but that was quickly squashed when I envisioned myself eating the continental breakfast at a hotel before the game you so lovingly scheduled for 9:30 a.m. this Sunday. Thank you.
Now, it’s not lost on me that games aren’t scheduled on Father’s day. One might say that’s because it’s out of season but let’s be real. Is there really a soccer “season”? Between all the additional soccer things my husband schedules for my sons and what soccer organizations offer through the year, really a soccer season is a unicorn none of us will ever catch.
Going forward, I would like to request you treat Mother’s day weekend like Easter weekend. Don’t have games on Mother’s day. Us sleep deprived, hard-working women need a day to ourselves where we can sleep in and for once and have others do nice things for us. We’ve earned it. Besides, what does your own mothers have to say about you scheduling games on Mother’s day?

I love this! Well done! And since when is Father’s Day not during the season? You play soccer when it’s warm outside, Father’s Day is in early June? How is this possible? My girls’ season doesn’t even start until June!
For us soccer ends like the last week of May. But then miraculously all of these special programs come up.
Ohs that is so strange to end so early. 3rd’s winter “indoor” season ended a few weeks ago so now they are just outside on a field – same team and everything.
That is really shitty that they recognize Easter and not Mother’s Day.
