There, I said it. I fucking hate you Disney World. You have created this world that most of us can’t afford and as a mother it breaks my heart. I am crying right now just thinking of this. Every few months my sons bring up that so and so in their class is traveling to Disney World. Fortunately for them, their parents raised around $5,000 or half the price of an economy car, for the cost of passes, 4-7 night stay in a hotel, the cost of plane tickets and $7 for a 12 ounce soda.
What makes me feel especially like an ass hole is that I visited Disney World at age 9 for the first time. I would then visit again a few more times but as a land/cruise scenario and with grandma warbucks. If anyone would have told me that I wouldn’t be able to afford to take my children on this vacation 26 years later, I would have laughed and gone back to making out with the boy I had met on the cruise.
I don’t know what this post is. I just know that I am incredibly sad over not being able to provide this for my sons. It is infuriating when an over zealous mother exclaims about their 18 month old toddler, “Cayden won’t remember it but it will be so much fun!”
I mean, what the fuck?
I’ve never been to Disney, and while it did kind of suck as a child, I’m totally fine with that fact as an adult. Nothing is really missing from my life because I didn’t go. My parents took the family to Florida twice though, once when I was in grade 1 I think. We stayed at their friend’s “winter house”. And the second time in grade 9. That time we actually stayed in Kissimee but never actually went to the park. And I broke my toe on the first morning we were there. haha,
Well thats not good to break your toe! What a slap in the face: well, we are going to stay in the same city as Disney, not go there oh and you will also break your toe. Poor thing!
HAHA yeah! And it was in March so it was rainy basically the whole week. But we did go to the space thing, and a beach in tampa and some other things I forget haha.
Stay at a cheap hotel, drive and go on a couple of timeshare visits to pay for a few tickets.
What are timeshare visits? I know what time shares are but visits? I thought about driving but its a 16 hour drive. Now I know why my dad demanded we eat granola bars and apples for lunch in lieu of getting lunch on site.
Where you go to the seminar and they give you the free tickets or you can stay a their hotel for free. If not, get a hotel with breakfast included and a refrigerator and leave the park for lunch and dinner. It will cut expenses.
I agree that it is beyond expensive. Way back in the 80s, my parents took my brother and I and they just didn’t eat the whole time. They would steal bites from our meals. My parents both had really good jobs and we could barely afford it…
See that pisses me off. And you know what? My friend took her kids there and said everyone was foreign which leads me to believe Disney only caters to the elite of the world. The only chance (and this is gonna sound harsh) you have of ever going if you are low-middle to poverty income is if you are a Make a Wish recipient.
It sucks, but I feel like that’s the way of the world now ?
