I’m going to date myself here but do you guys remember in the movie Poltergeist when the little witch lady, or whatever she was used to say “Devil be gone!” Well I imagine her to say, “Calluses be gone!” Ok, that intro sucked, but don’t judge. Keep reading!
Say hello to my little friend!
“What is that Hot Mess?” You ask.
Well friends, it’s the best thing since nail polish remover in my opinion with regards to pedicures. It’s a callus shaver. Stick with me, I know this is an uncomfortable topic like talking about sex with your mom or dad (I never had that talk, see here) but again, stay with me!
You shave gently, unless you have calluses like mine, then you are pressing super hard on your heels, trying to extract the dead skin. Here are before and after pictures:

I highly recommend you purchase this immediately! I haven’t found this little nugget anywhere other than CVS. You can purchase in store or online here and the best thing it’s only $6.29 in store, $5.99 online. I’ve bought it for years! Just a side note, apply gently at first till you are comfortable with it. I don’t want you to shave down to your bone, that defeats the purpose. Am I right?
Have you used anything like this? Are you going to try it? I’m interested to hear from you!
I used one once and hurt myself (sounds like life in general for me), so I just get pedicures with my mom every other month. Just got one this past Saturday actually. 🙂
Nice!
I use a huge paddle, with a file on it. I use it everyday in the shower and then apply lotion when I get out. You need to be super careful about removing calluses. Some of our calluses are actually beneficial to supporting our feet and weight. If you have deep calluses, they are meant to be there! Otherwise, I love shaving the hell out of my feet! I can’t stand it when my feet are so dry they catch on my sheets!!!!!!
So what your saying is that I’m doing the same amount of harm as a Geisha would when binding her feet?
???? Possibly…
I don’t own own, but they’ve used them on my hooves during pedicures. They’ve gone too far a time or two and it hurts like hell! It’s probably safer if I get my own.
I used to watch in shady nail salons on the lower East side the techs shaving patrons feet. It was illegal for them to have salon shavers but you could bring your own and have them do it. I tried to look away as it was a disaster!
When I was young and wandering the world (on a “cruise ship” called the US Navy), one of the best ports for us women was Thailand. The men liked it too, but for a whole other reason. I digress. Thailand is where I have received some of the best pedicures of my life and they all use that tool. We would buy them off the pedicurist for a few cents, but finding replacement blades was impossible. So, this long comment was to thank you for the bit of nostalgia on this Monday 🙂
That is hilarious about the men loving Thailand. And I bet those pedicures only cost like a nickel.
I have been thinking about this post for A LONG TIME … and am finally responding. I bought that devil tool you recommended. Found the exact one. Nice and cheap like you said. Oi vey! Girrrrl, you must have some really hard callouses! I used that and it nearly gouged my flesh out. I think this would be great for corns or hand callouses, but my feet just weren’t rough enough — NOT BRAGGING, just sayin’. Anyway, I do thank you for offering this up … sometimes you have to try stuff to know for yourself.
And now I have this to add for YOU:
#1 This is the two-sided tool I found that has worked THE BEST for my rough feet “Earth Therapeutics Diamond File” ($10): http://www.ulta.com/diamond-file?productId=xlsImpprod6481661
I bought mine at Ulta, but Bed, Bath & Beyond may also have this product. I use this product almost every time I take a bath — like maintainence. I use it longer for rougher spots.
#2 This is a “foot bootie”. You put it on for a couple hours and it has exfoliating / peeling chemicals that take off layers of stuff. Your feet can peel for a few days afterwards, but they are definitely softer: https://www.amazon.com/Exfoliant-Lavender-Chemical-Remover-Treatment/dp/B0145XRTB0?th=1
You can of course, buy this online, buy these packs can also be found at Ulta. If you decide to use this, be sure not to cut your toenails too short or have any nicks or cuts on your toes or feet because the chemical peel can sting! This is good to watch at the start of a movie at night when the kids are in bed. Have some wine with this. Don’t keep them on longer than recommended! Less is NOT more.
You got me very inspired to soften my feet. Glad I found this post again and hope your feet are treating you well!!!! 🙂
OMG…I feel like such an ass hole here. I am sooooo sorry if I led you astray! I don’t want you to have jacked up feet! I only wanted the best for everyone!
No worries at all! Your post got me inspired to care for my feet and find other products! I didn’t need an amputation or blood transfusion! All’s good! ☺
PS: I’m drinking some wine and have noticed I have made some typos! Ooopsie! Hope you can decipher the “rough spots”!
Dude….I can TOTTALY decipher the rough spots! I speak buzz! Staying up to see how bad hurricane Irma is for my family so drink and respond all you want girl!!!
Oh yeah, Irma. I’ve been reading and watching all I can even though that’s not my neck of the woods and luckily I don’t have friends or family in Florida either. My 80 year old dad who lives in Houston was spared any problems with H. Harvey.
Have you seen this little story: http://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/09/07/us/harvey-irma-couple.html
