My children have had their share of temper tantrums. I’ve tried to record a few of them and watch them every so often for a good laugh. Occasionally, they will join in and watch. As they look back, they think it’s hysterical.
I have temper tantrums sometimes on a daily basis. Usually it’s internal and the majority of the external ones are in my car. The ones in my car are only embarrassing when people look over and see me not only talking to myself but using my hand gestures. I’m Italian so sue me. Occasionally it looks like I’m having a seizure or something when both mouth and hands are going at the same time.
So behold, I would love to introduce you to some beautiful meltdowns I have captured over the years. Now, my children aren’t hellions. In fact, they are usually well-behaved. But they are children and these weren’t their finest moments. I’m glad I captured these as I’m toying with the idea of them being the intro into the rehearsal dinner videos in 20 years.
You Have to Go To School
This was when my youngest still was attending private school while my oldest attended public. Public school around here calls off if they see anything white fly by and assume it’s snow. The private school he was attending only called off if there was a zombie apocalypse.
I’ve Never Lost!
Now here is one where my EXTREMELY competitive oldest lost for the first time at Monopoly. He was having a tough time processing this and lashed out kinda like the exorcist. One person on Facebook suggested this should be a ring tone: I’VE NEVER LOST!
I Want a Banana!
And our final meltdown is of my youngest again, coming to terms that I do not have a banana for him and sadly I cannot pull a banana out of my ass. He was only a preschooler here and he looks back on this and laughs.

My brother and I would have never got to that point because a) dad made it a point to always beat us playing board games like high-ho-cherrio and sorry! to prove that we were losers (of course) and b) he would have made some comment to the effect of: I’ll give you a reason to cry. Yup. That one shut us up right quick.
Also, any time my brother and I played games, he would always cheat so he would come out the winner. When I was old enough to catch on, I’d call him out on it and he would usually quit. 😀
Normally it does’t get to that point, it was a first and I honestly didn’t know what to do.
oooo I totally connect with P on losing at monopoly!! I hardly ever lose and when I do, I get really upset about it. Even as an adult lol
We had tears last night because 4th wanted to grate cheese on her pasta, but 1st had put the grater in the sink when she was done using it. That was it. I washed it up, dried and and then 4th refused to take it!! I was like “you don’t even want it now that I’ve washed it and dried it for you?!” she took it and then continued to cry as she grated the cheese over her pasta……
Omg… I can totally picture that happening and that’s hilarious!!
haha!! A little bit ridiculous don’t you think? Like 1st did put the grater into the sink because SHE was done…she knew that 4th was getting cheese but that didn’t matter. Children….

Oooo then I got whines when I telling her mum that between the 90 lbs of dogs pulling on my arm muscles, and then the four flights of stairs I run up all day every day, I just need to work my abs at home. Which wasn’t to 4th’s liking because then I wouldn’t be as soft for her to lay on while reading stories haha
But did he flip the board!? 🙂 My sister had a similar melt down over Monopoly but she’d flip the board and send the pieces flying if she didn’t win.
These are actually sort of sweet…although it must be embarrassing now they are older!
They are pretty sweet aren’t they? I wish you would have gotten the flipping in slow motion. It would have been epic!
This was back in the day when no one had access to video cameras. Well…my Grandma had one, but she only really used it on holidays.
