After finishing my video of horrible Amazon products and reviews, I had an idea to take a look at horrible company reviews, courtesy of glassdoor.com. I honestly feel bad for these people. This is just a touch of what I found from some well-known companies.

I love this one! “You try makin’ McChicken sandwiches for 14 hours……” Maybe that’s why they’re so damn slow. They have a person on McChickens in lieu of cheeseburgers.

This exact thing happened to me. I walk in to my new desk (see my review up above) to find post-it notes still hanging on the cubicle walls and the filing cabinet completely filled with junk. It was as if she was out to lunch.

Damn, I have a 12 hour shift tomorrow and 15 hour shifts coming up next month. I do event security. I wanted so badly to be a supervisor and got it after a year. But now, sometimes being a supervisor means working a 12+ hour shift and getting a crew of 15 people and trying to figure out how to have time to give all of those 15 people all of their (much deserved) breaks when it’s super busy and you have to get the guests in. I do like my job most days but sometimes I just get too many people on my crew and they (upper management) don’t want us to start giving breaks until 5-6 hours in, which makes my lovely crew all pissed at me. It’s very stressful. So most days, I hope I’m not going to be put as a supervisor. Less stress, same supervisor pay.
Ugh! 12 to 15 hour shifts? WTH? What kind of event security is it? I will say I am happy to see you are a manager concerned about the well-being of her employees. Being a manager/supervisor, etc, sucks. Though it’s less pay, there is something refreshing not having to manage people, write reviews, mediate fights, etc. I do that enough at home!
Most of mine have been good experiences. Of course there were a couple of bad apples in there – including my last job – hence the current incarnation of my job search chronicles. I actually asked the founder’s son and current CEO if it bothered him to have a 2.5 star rating on GlassDoor. He made a joke out of it.
I also like that GlassDoor let’s you rate interviews…bad news for Target, who has an insane process for what ultimately becomes deciding to hire an internal candidate.
When you went and spoke to the CEO’s son you did the right thing. And anyone having a 2.5 star should take it seriously and try to see what’s broken. Unfortunately, a good chunk of “top management” are so narcissistic that they are confident their shit doesn’t stink and clearly there is something wrong with the people that gave it such a low rating. To people like that, I want to scream at them, “what’s wrong with you ass hole?”
