Aspirin Mask Recipe for Acne & Anti-aging

I pin regularly on Pinterest and found a life hack about piercing an Advil liquid gel cap and placing the gel on zits. Apparently, the anti-inflammatory properties will zap the zit in seconds. Not believing this, I Googled Advil and zits, trying to find the truth to this miracle ointment. Along the way, I came across a comment that said while Advil will help acne, an Aspirin mask works much better. I had never heard of an aspirin mask in my life and so began the journey down the rabbit hole that is Google, attempting to learn more.

Aspirin Masks for Acne

Here’s why an aspirin mask is great for acne:

  • Aspirin is created by a chemical reaction between acetic acid and salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is found in many anti-acne ointments.
  • Salicylic acid also helps remove oil and dead skin.
  • Aspirin is an anti-inflammatory, helping with inflammatory acne.
  • The Aspirin masks exfoliates.

Aspirin Masks for Anti-aging

Here’s why an aspirin mask is great for anti-aging:

  • Beta hydroxy acid helps tighten skin and smooth wrinkles.
  • An Aspirin mask evens out skin tone
  • The Aspirin masks exfoliates.
  • Your skin is softer and brighter.

Aspirin Mask Recipe

aspirin maskSo this is almost too good to be true but this is all I suggest to make 1 mask:

  • 5-8 uncoated aspirin (I couldn’t find anything that said uncoated so I bought the cheapest aspirin that looked uncoated and they worked great)
  • Water (filtered is preferred)
  • Organic honey (the honey is thrown in because it acts as an antibacterial, has antioxidants and soothes skin)

Place the aspirin in a bowl and drop enough water in to allow the tablets to dissolve. I used the back of my spoon for any stubborn pieces. Mix to form a paste. Next, I added just a little honey. There isn’t a rule here, just add a few drops and you should be good. Spread it on your face and leave on for 15-20 minutes. After the time is up, use a wet washcloth and remove all of it. If you are using this for anti-aging, follow the mask with a rich moisturizer. If for acne, you’re done!

So I did it yesterday and here are the immediate, positive results I noticed:

  • Brighter skin
  • Soft skin (like smooth as a baby’s butt!)
  • Even skin tone

My son did it for his acne. Though it’s too soon to tell, he loved it so much and asked that I make another one today. Because drying out your skin can enable acne, I told him that we should wait till tomorrow to do another, just to be safe.

So are you going to try this? Have you heard of this? It’s pretty amazing in my book and I’ll be doing another tomorrow. Let me know if you try it and what you think!
