When coming up with our sons’ names and searching every book of baby names, we understood that their first name was the one free thing we could give them that could potentially help or hurt their futures. You can’t tell me that someone with the name Octopus, is treated the same as Jack. Tanqueray versus Amy. People aren’t suppose to judge a book by its cover but they do.
That being said, we’re Italian and coming up with some majorly Italian names for Parker, our first-born. I mean, we were dripping olive oil. Every time we came up with a new name, we couldn’t help but cringe at the shortening of the names. I mean, if he didn’t sound like a mobster, he was going to sound like a meat cutter at the local meat market:
Vincenzo = Vinny
Salvatore = Sal
Rocco = Well….no shortening but you catch my drift.
We loved Salvatore so we settled on Salvatore as his middle name. No one really shortens middle names. For our youngest, we chose Carter. Looking back on it, this may have not been the best decision as when I get mad at them or yell for them, it usually comes out sounding like this:
“Parker…no Carter! Whatever we’re calling you! PARTER! Get down here now!”
My Middle Name is Awful

So my middle name is Clorinda. Yes, Clorinda. Sounds like Clorox, doesn’t it? My husband likes my middle name and calls me Chloe which I really like and don’t mind at all. I’m all for unique names but come one!

Totally boring and unoriginal – Mary. Grandmother’s name, mother’s middle name and ha ha – daughter’s middle name.
Well then that seems about right. It could be worse. Everytime we tell people Parker’s middle name, Salvatore, because it’s such a “big” name, people are like, “awe, is that a family name?” And we’re like “uh-no….we just like it.” People can’t fathom that we would name a child that name unless it was a family name. LOL!
I love my middle name! It’s the same as my favourite aunt and it was my grandma’s middle name as well. Possibly my non-existent daughter’s middle name too! I wouldn’t change it

Thanks! I used to hyphenate my first and middle name when I was like 11/12. I didn’t like my first name when I was younger, since everyone gets it wrong. My new boss even said it wrong. When I go to sign my contract I’ll have to make sure he has it right hehe but my middle name has always had a special place in my heart. I was born the day after my grandma’s birthday so we got to share parties when I was little. So great

My middle name is Regina, after my mom’s aunt. I don’t love or hate it, really.
Regina is one of my sister’s names! I like Regina.
Mine is Graham (and I’m a girl…). It was my grandmother’s maiden name and the name was dying out as she was one of two girls. So, until the birth of my daughter, 6 weeks ago, I was technically the last named member of the Yorkshire branch of the Graham clan! I hated it when I was small but I adore it now and wouldn’t change it for anything, and I love now sharing it with my little girl…she’ll learn to love it in time ?
Well first let me congratulate you on your new daughter! Is this your first? Now that you’ve added context to your middle name, I absolutely love it! So cool! Yeah, she probably won’t like it at first but a girl with the name Graham, I picture a super hip, cool girl.

My middle name is Raelyn (ray-lynn) and I actually like it more than my first name. If I could choose a name to go by, it would be Raelyn, honestly. I’d love to go by either Raelyn or Rae.
Ok, Rae is super cool. I think your parents were going for flow b/c honestly I think Erika Raelyn flows well. No? I think we failed in the flow department because my oldest name is Parker Salvatore. IDK. I do like the flow of my full, maiden name as it all ends in the same vowel: A. 🙂
